Technological Innovations in Education

The present world is witnessing tremendous and rapid technological progress and development that has not been witnessed before in various ways, which made us unable to dispense with modern technology in our daily life, whatever the circumstances.

With the explosion of the knowledge, information and demographic revolution, technology is able to facilitate access to knowledge and information in the hands of researchers, teachers, and learners in all areas of life.
Because possessing knowledge and information is the golden key to the progress and prosperity fund of any nation in the world.

This technological progress and development is a new paradigm shift in human life, in which the challenge lies and the creativity and the aspiration of what is new, as it includes many technologies and tangible and intangible devices that contribute to supporting and developing the sectors of life in general and the educational sector in particular.

Among the most important challenges facing the educational process is the ability to explore new methods of learning and education-based on a foundation, curriculum and educational method organized according to learning theories, and being able to design an appropriate creative learning environment that contributes to facilitating and improving the processes of learning and teaching, and giving them an interactive side and the right investment in their use and presentation.

This huge revolution represented the emergence of many technological innovations in the educational field, which have become the focus of attention by educators and teachers, in order to demonstrate its reality and ways to benefit from it in the educational process.

From this standpoint, many types of research and studies have emerged that have called for the necessity of effective utilization of technological innovations in the educational process, because of its many advantages and positive factors.

The advantages of technological innovations are not only limited to teachers but also improve students' problem-solving skills and help them improve the skill of thinking and creativity.

This would take into account the interests of learners at the center and center of the education process, especially in our time which is called the technological or digital age.

How Has Technology Changed the Education System?

Through the use of the Learning Management System (LMS), students can use online resources to obtain on-demand support beyond the physical reach of their teacher and through technological applications, they are also able to collaborate with their own classmates. For some students, interaction and collaboration provide a better learning experience.

Educational technology has helped create new and updated educational materials and curricula and has improved the speed of teaching and learning process.

In the past, education was limited to visual learning through pictures and illustrations, then it developed into audio learning through radio with the development of international broadcasts such as:
The British Broadcasting Corporation, which is still providing educational and awareness programs, has worked to spread health and environmental awareness in poor countries.

With the advent of television and video, education has become more accessible and modern, this is what educators called audiovisual learning, and then education benefited greatly from the development of computer hardware, which had a prominent role in improving the processes of learning and education and trying to eradicate technological illiteracy up to highlighting the concept of the Internet.

Educational technology has become popular in the last two decades because of its many advantages in general and in the field of education in particular,

It is clear that education keeps pace with every era, and it tries hard to employ modern technologies in the educational process because of its benefits that are in the interest of the teacher and learner.

It was natural for the elements of the educational system to be affected by the revolution that took place in the field of technological innovations where the role of the teacher and the learner changed.
Curricula have been affected by its goals, content, activities, methods of presentation as methods of learning and education have changed and many modern concepts have emerged in the field of education-related to the procedural and executive level of educational practices in particular, including:

E-learning, distance learning, multimedia, flipped learning, cloud computing, virtual museums, mental mapping, open-source online courses, MOOCs, 3D virtual learning environments, digital storytelling ... and other concepts related to technological developments in education.

Despite the effectiveness of technology innovations and their positive impact on the educational process, there are many challenges facing officials, teachers, and learners, including:

  • The teachers did not understand the type of innovator appropriate to the educational process, given the characteristics of the school and class.
  • The need to train teachers to use the creator before introducing it to learners.
  • Physical cost.
  • The speed of technology development.
Finally, we need to develop appropriate plans to employ technological innovations in the educational process and the consequences that hinder us must be taken into consideration and attempts to overcome the challenges facing us.

The most important of all is defining the general framework for employing this technological innovator, it may not be necessary to employ it in many cases and educational processes, in addition to the need to spread awareness about the uses, advantages, and disadvantages of the technological innovator to be employed in the educational process, as well as training teachers and learners on how to use them in the right way and employ in the appropriate way.
