1.  Buy in Bulk:

Try to buy bulk food and kitchen essentials at your local grocery store, whenever possible.

Cooking in bulk is also a great way to use your appliances and other kitchen resources efficiently. Devote a few hours on Sunday to plan your meals and cook for the week that's better for the planet and better for you, not just to save time, but also for your happy and healthy lifestyle.


2. Compost your food:

Composting food waste is a great way to reduce waste in the kitchen and if you have a garden or houseplants, you can turn coffee grounds (and many other old food items) into nutrient-dense, rich soil.

Yes, this step takes a little time and effort to set up, but once you start composting, it becomes simple and the most effective way to stop food waste.

This is recommended for anything you spend money on, in the kitchen specifically, go for appliances, cookware, and utensils that may last for years and this could mean buying expensive knives that will last 5 years, rather than replacing knives every few months or so.

This can mean buying a tried and true cast-iron skillet, these things can really last a lifetime and on the other hand, you probably just need to refrain from buying another kitchen gadget that you will only use once or twice, and think about it, do you really need a banana cutter or other tools that are not often used.

Whatever you do, try to choose cookware that can really stand the test of time, cutting plastic when possible may be a good choice, going for stainless steel or other hard materials, and investing in high-quality items is also a good choice.


5. Eat less red meat:

Eating a lot of meat can have a detrimental effect on your health, however, it is also becoming clear that consuming meat is also harmful to the planet as well.

Due to mass industrial animal production, it is not easy to say that the meat industry is making the planet polluted and dirty. The amount of harmful greenhouse gas emissions associated with modern agriculture cannot be denied at this point.
